It seems that either you love it (like me) or you really, really hate it.If you're wondering whether or not to try Moon Cheese - and given, it's a bit spendy to just try on a whim - maybe this will help: do you ever microwave slices of good-quality cheddar (like Tillamook, not Kraft Singles) until it turns into a crisp? Or do you love Parmesan crisps, which are often oven-baked until they are like a cracker? Basically, Moon Cheese and cheddar & Parmesan crisps all do the same thing - they cook the cheese until much of the oil/fat separates from the cheese and you're left with a condensed, crunchy version of the core essence of the cheese.If you're not sure whether you'll like Moon Cheese, maybe try microwaving a slice of cheddar on a micro-safe plate until the oil separates out and the cheese is browned a bit and becomes a thin, crisp layer (it doesn't take long - for a thinish slice of cheese in a newer micro, 1 min will probably do it). Try the thin, crunchy result (discarding the oil) and see what you think. If you like it, definitely try Moon Cheese. If you don't, maybe you're in the 1-star crowd and it's best to skip it.Simple yet brilliant: cheese in a bag. Delicious and so easy on the go, on the ski hill, on the boat, in the car, or just a snack at home.
