The first time I tried to make these pancakes they didn't turn out very well. So I tried again with a few small modifications and a little more care. These are not like regular pancakes and are not as forgiving in how you cook them. These are very dry, very dense pancakes. They are also very filling. Following the instructions will make enough for 1 person. Here is what I did to get acceptable pancakes that also tasted good...In a small bowl I combined:2 tablespoons of oat milk1 tablespook of water1 large egg1 teaspoon of vanillaThen I whisked in the 1/4 cup of pancake mix. The batter was still a little too thick, so I added another splash of water.Make small pancakes. My mistake the first time was making them big. This time I made five little ones.Press down before turning the pancake. If they rise, there will be raw batter in the middle.Don't let the pan get too hot. They burn fast.I topped with maple suryup and they were pretty good. Not as easy to make as the standard kind, but with a little extra care, they turned out ok.This was much better than I anticipated. It made really tasty and fluffy pancakes - very surprising for a keto friendly product. I know most of the reviews say that the pancakes were very dense. Knowing that beforehand, I added a dash of baking powder plus 1 whole egg and 1 egg white and whisked the heck out of it.....which yielded me a very fluffy batch of pancakes. If you're looking at this from a vegan point of view, ignore that last part and just deal with the dense pancakes. But if you're looking at this as a keto friendly option, then you should TOTALLY listen to my suggestion. You won't be sorry! What this is:This is 10 ounces of vanilla flavored pancake mix that is high in protein. There is 14 grams in 1/3 cup of the mix. It takes an egg in making the recipe according to directions. The recipe makes one serving of pancakes. The egg adds about 6 more grams of protein. To make:This is an easy mix to make. It takes 1/3 cup of the mix, 1 egg, 3 tablespoons of milk or water (I used non dairy almond milk) and 1 tablespoon of oil (I used canola). In making the pancake, I did add a little more water to make the batter a little thinner. It seemed very thick following the recipe. It flipped easily in the pan. It browned nicely. It didn't fall apart. What I like about making this, the recipe calls for 1/3 cup of mix. The nutrition facts are based on 1/3 cup of the mix. Very easy to figure out what I am putting in my body. The batter is slightly different than a regular flour pancake batter. I made one big pancake that fit nicely in my 8 inch pan. I waited til it started bubbling and flipped. The texture of the pancake looks identically to a regular flour pancake. It is fluffy. To taste it:It is slightly dry. Adding a little syrup took care of this. It has a wonderful vanilla flavor. It actually taste like vanilla. When cutting into it, It breaks apart easier than a regular pancake. This is not a sweet pancake. I may add a little sugar next time I make them. Again, the maple syrup provided all of the sweetness I needed to the pancake.4 stars: the texture was off a little for me. I may add a little more oil in making them next time. I may add a little sugar to sweeten it. The flavor was great. I like that there is a good dose of protein in them.So I really like the vanilla taste but the pancakes are super dense and the pouch doesn't make all that many pancakes. The pancakes are more filling than the average pancake, thoug. This protein pancake mix really tastes good and is easy to make considering how much protein it has. I have tried many protein pancakes and most are just too dense or tasteless because of all the protein, these are light and fluffy like a pancake should be at least close BUT it is on the expensive side. For this price, I will not buy it again.A good tasting, vanilla pancake. When making these, the batter seemed a bit thicker than most pancake mixes I've used. These also seem to be a bit thicker and fluffier than most pancakes I've used also. None of that make a difference one way or another to me, but I thought I'd mention it just in case it matters to you. We made smaller pancakes and they came out okay.Overall, a nice protein pancake mix. I'll try these again, just not all the time. With how expensive eggs have gotten with inflation, we decided to mix up our standard egg breakfast by making these hearty pancakes. The kids ate a few bites but were not too keen as they are picky eaters. My spouse and I enjoyed them on the other hand with a dash of legit (Vermont) maple syrup. 4/5
